Lace up your genealogical boots, and dig in with genealogy expert Liz Ross.

A hands on workshop, conquer the forms and citations.

Brush up on your techniques, reinforce your foundation and expand your knowledge.

1.  Genealogist use two basic forms to record their findings – the pedigree chart and the family group sheet. Whether on paper or computer, these two forms carry the distilled research and are the means of building the “family tree”.

2. Genealogists today are called upon to “cite their sources”. Even the stories from Aunt Molly need a footnote with date of interview, location, who Aunt Molly is, etc.

3.  Genealogists today are increasingly puzzle solvers. They always go from the known to the unknown, and while sometimes this is ‘just looking up’ something, as the trail of people
goes back in time, genealogists become detectives, piecing together clues from multiple sources to form a reasonable conclusion.

This workshop will start right at the beginning and will move through each of the items mentioned above, using examples and case studies from supplied materials.

Computers may be useful but not necessary.

Optional: List of documents/information to bring will be available August 15, 2014
