Jay is Executive Director for Common Cause Illinois. He is responsible for tracking, analyzing and building campaigns around legislation on issues concerning open governance and money in politics. Before joining Common Cause, Jay served as an administrator for a statewide early childhood program and worked at the state level with public and private stakeholders to develop supports for Illinois children and families with the greatest needs. Selected as one of the state’s thought leaders in building and strengthening local community collaborations, Jay has travelled all over Illinois to talk to families who no longer feel they have voices. Jay completed his undergraduate studies as Duke University and went on to receive a Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago. He also holds a law degree from the University of Virginia and has over a decade of experience working as an attorney.
Rebecca Glenberg ACLU - IL
Rebecca Glenberg is a lifelong public interest attorney. She is currently a senior supervising attorney at the ACLU of Illinois, where she litigates across a broad range of civil rights and civil liberties issues, including free speech, voting rights, and immigrants’ rights. Previously, she was the Legal Director of the ACLU of Virginia for 16 years. Her accomplishments in Virginia include protecting college students’ right to vote where they attend school, advancing the religious liberty of cadets at the Virginia Military Institute, and filing one of the first federal cases guaranteeing a transgender student’s right to use the restroom appropriate to their gender identity. Rebecca received her J.D. in 1997 from the University of Chicago Law School, where she practiced in the school’s Homeless Assistance Project, helping clients obtain Social Security Insurance and fight housing discrimination.
Tyler St. Clair, Common Cause Illinois
Tyler St. Clair joined Common Cause in February 2020, stepping into the role of Outreach Manager. His primary responsibilities include community outreach and engagement, volunteer recruitment, and the creation of programming to pursue campaign priorities. Prior to joining Common Cause Illinois, Tyler worked on multiple campaigns advocating for the environment and public health, taking him from Indiana to Iowa and finally to Maine, where he coordinated a statewide campaign to protect the air we breathe. Tyler received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Evansville and most recently a Master of Public Administration from Auburn University with a focus in Election Administration. He has studied and worked on issues pertaining to the administration of elections in the United States as well as abroad, serving as an international observer for the 2019 presidential election in Nigeria.
