Reading Awake Book Group discusses literature that makes us think and feel.

May 24- Children of the Land by Marcelo Hernandez Castillo.

We are excited to host Marcelo Hernandez Castillo at our book group meeting on May 24th. His sensitive, eye-opening memoir , Children of the Land, is about about growing up undocumented in the United States. It was an NPR Book of the Year.

Marcelo writes : “You were not a ghost even though an entire country was scared of you. No one in this story was a ghost. This was not a story.”
